London, 1st April 2014Casio Electronics Co. Ltd, pioneers of Laser & LED Hybrid light source technology, has today announced the launch of a new Ultra Short Throw (UST) Lamp and mercury-free projector.

Casio is the only projector manufacturer with a complete line-up of lamp and mercury-free products, the addition of the UST demonstrates Casio’s commitment to greener technology with an emphasis on low Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) and energy efficiency.

The UST projector is ideal for both replacement and new-build projects, and can be mounted close to the wall to create large, powerful presentations even in smaller rooms. The main benefit of UST projection is that it virtually eliminates shadowing on the screen allowing for more creative and interactive presentations.

Designed to deliver a more engaging and visually stimulating learning experience, the Casio UST will provide teachers and students with the ability to get up close and personal with their AV equipment. The product - which can project a large 80-inch image from a distance as near as 27 centimetres - has been created to virtually eliminate on-screen shadowing.

Phil Clark, Head of Projection at Casio commented: “Despite the constant drive by the government to improve the learning environment, we all know that budgets are tight and classroom space is limited - the new UST projector has been designed with this in mind.”

By offering a projector with lower TCO and reduced environmental impact – when compared to lamp-based competitor products – Casio believes that it offers users a great incentive to ‘go green.’

Clark continues: “From talking to our customers it became clear that the UST was the natural progression for our projector range. As the industry leader in green projection technology, Casio is delighted to unveil one the most highly anticipated AV products of the last three years.”

The Casio UST will be available from June 2014; all UK units will be shipped with a 5 year/ 10,000 hour hardware and light source warranty.

April 2014 - Casio has released an exciting new sports watch. The STB-1000 uses wireless technology to enable the wearer to check personal fitness data from popular mobile apps and operate a music player on an iPhone.

Following on from Casio’s initial release in 2011 of a G-SHOCK watch that uses Bluetooth® v4.0 with low energy wireless technology to communicate with smartphones and later models which added compatibility with more major smartphone brands worldwide, offered various other new functions including notification of incoming calls and emails, as well as the ability to control a smartphone’s music player, Casio has now extended its offering.

Casio, using Bluetooth® v4.0, has now launched this exciting technology in to the sports watch category with the new STB-1000.*1 It is compatible with four iPhone*2 fitness apps: Abvio’s Runmeter, Walkmeter, and Cyclemeter (http://abvio.com/), as well as Wahoo Fitness (http://www.wahoofitness.com/), all available for download from the Apple App Store.

The sports watch can be used to check personal fitness data such as running pace and distance, elapsed time, pulse,*3 cycling speed,*3 and pedal rotations.*3

*1 This watch is equipped with the LSI Bluetooth® Low Energy LSI ML7105 wireless technology developed by LAPIS Semiconductor Co., Ltd., providing energy-saving performance.

*2 Compatible with iPhone4/5/5C/5S with iOS7 installed.

*3 A separate sensor is required to measure these kinds of data.

To make running more comfortable and fun, the new watch makes it easy for wearers to operate their iPhone music player. Without having to take out their iPhone, wearers can easily play or stop songs using the watch buttons, while also adjusting the volume or advancing a track. The watch itself (without an iPhone) also offers a wide range of other sports watch functions, including recording of up to 120 lap times.

Tim Gould, Head of Marketing, Casio UK said: “This is an ideal sports watch for the countless recreational runners who exercise with their iPhones. In addition to the compatibility with iPhone apps, it is waterproof, has a battery life of two years, and has a design that makes it easy to use and wear all the time.”

Casio plans to expand the number of fitness apps compatible with the STB-1000. By allowing wearers to change their fitness applications without having to change their watch, they will be able to view personal fitness data for different sports. This will dramatically increase the convenience of using the STB-1000.

Tom Onslow-Cole to Rock in Aston Martin

British professional racing driver Tom Onslow-Cole and his Strata21 team-mate Paul White will race an Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3 in the second round of the 2014 British GT Championship this weekend (4-5 May).

Onslow-Cole, who contested the opening round of the championship in a Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3, will enter the Casio Edifice and Milltek Sport-liveried Aston Martin in this weekend’s event at Rockingham.

“Paul and I both have experience in the Aston Martin and now the Strata21 Vantage GT3 has become available, it makes sense for us to use it,” comments Onslow-Cole. “It’s the car that got me addicted to GT racing so I’m excited to be back out in it again this weekend.”

Strata21’s Vantage GT3 had been tied up in commitments at the Nürburgring and was, until recently, unavailable for the first half of the season. However, hard-work by the team at Aston Martin Racing has meant that the car is ready ahead of schedule.

“It was great news to hear that the Strata21 Vantage GT3 is ready for Tom and I to use,” comments White. “We had a great time racing the Nissan at Oulton Park and we plan to run the car again at some point this year - our relationship with JRM and JMH Automotive is still ongoing.

“However, it would be silly not to use our Aston Martin in the British GT Championship.  It’s a championship-winning car and we plan to make a full assault on the 2014 title.“

The V12 Vantage GT3 was launched at the end of 2011 and has been extremely successful around the world, winning major races and series including last year’s British GT Championship.

Although it is Strata21’s debut BGT season, this won’t be the first outing in the Vantage GT3 for Onslow-Cole and White. The pair raced in the MSA British Endurance Championship (Britcar) in July 2013 alongside Aston Martin Racing team principal John Gaw.

“It’s great to have Tom and Paul back in the Vantage GT3,” comments Gaw. “They are a great pairing that can win the championship so it’s great to have them in the car. We look forward to seeing them race at Rockingham this weekend.”

The Rockingham round of the British GT Championship comprises one two-hour race, which takes place on Monday 5 May at 13.55.

“Rockingham has a great mix of corners, the infield is technical and tight and the banking at Turn 1 is definitely a feature that’s unique,” adds Onslow-Cole.  “I can’t wait to let rip in the Aston Martin and get stuck into one of the longer races of the British GT Championship calendar.”

Casio’s motor-sports inspired watch brand EDIFICE is sponsoring motoring on the Discovery TV channel from July 1st for the rest of this year, aiming to strengthen the partnership between Edifice and the F1 Red Bull Racing team.

The campaign sees the cable channel air a series of six 60-second ad-funded vignettes to describe how Casio Edifice, in partnership with the racing team, makes every second count.

Casio EDIFICE has been an official sponsor of the Infiniti Red Bull Racing Team since 2009 with the logo appearing on both the car and the race suits. Sebastian Vettel, defending World Champion and Infiniti Red Bull Racing debutant Daniel Ricciardo both wear Casio EDIFICE on and off the track.

The sponsorship deal, negotiated by Casio’s agency partner Vizeum UK, will run across Discovery Channel, Quest, Discovery Turbo and Discovery Shed, with the ads created in-house by Discovery Creative London.

The vignettes and television idents show how Infiniti Red Bull Racing make marginal gains to save time on the track and were filmed at the team’s factory in Milton Keynes.

They feature anecdotes and thoughts from the team about how they make every second count, from aerodynamics through to race strategy.

Tim Gould, head of marketing for Casio Edifice, said: "The vignettes are great pieces of content centred around our brand ethos and provide another channel through which to activate our partnership with Infiniti Red Bull Racing.

"We have extremely high expectations for what the sponsorship will deliver, both commercially and in generating awareness for the Casio Edifice brand."

The 10-second television idents show an Infiniti Red Bull Racing driver preparing for a race, dressing and walking through the tunnel to the track, ending on an image of the Casio Edifice watch with the tag line "engineered for perfect timing, motoring sponsored by Casio Edifice".

Casio Edifice hopes to reach its target audience of male motoring enthusiasts by sponsoring more than 300 hours a month of motoring programming across Discovery’s portfolio including the 11th series of Wheeler Dealers.

The vignettes and idents will also appear online at Discovery in a sponsored Casio Edifice hub along with a competition page.

Marcus Jones was responsible for the overall creative direction of the ads and branded content and the creative director was Robin Garnett, while the producer was Hilde Alver.

Martin Heaton Cooper, vice president of commercial development for Discovery, said: "Discovery has produced six incredibly insightful vignettes, tying together the brand values of Casio Edifice and Infiniti Red Bull Racing to illustrate their partnership with genuine expert commentary.

"The campaign beautifully illustrates Casio Edifice’s progressive technology and precision with all the world-class production values you would expect from Discovery."

Casio releases new Green Slim and Signature models with lower power consumption

TOKYO, June 2, 2014 — Casio Computer Co., Ltd., announced today the release of seven new high-brightness projectors that work without lamps. The new projectors, featuring the flagship XJ-A257 and XJ-M256 models, also offer better compatibility with smart devices such as tablets and smartphones.

In 2010, Casio launched a projector that delivered brightness of 2500 lumens without using a mercury lamp, using its original Laser & LED Hybrid Light Source. Since then, the company’s lineup of projectors has grown to include 3000-lumen models and models compatible with smart devices. Casio projectors have been well received for a wide range of applications ranging from business to education.

The seven new models are lamp-free projectors that make possible a new style of presentation by offering even better compatibility with smart devices. When using a smart device with the original multi-function C-Assist* application from Casio installed, the presenter no longer needs to stay near the projector or PC, and is free to move around the room while delivering a presentation with a wide variety of content.
* The Android and iOS versions of the application will be available from Google Play and the Apple App Store, respectively, in July 2014.
Main Features of the C-Assist Smart Device App
■PC remote operation enables users to operate a PC that is connected to the projector from a smart device
■Camera image projection allows users to project images captured by the camera of a smart device in real time
■Content projection enables users to project education or presentation materials from a smart device
■Projector remote operation makes it possible to operate the projector from a smart device

The new lineup includes the Green Slim models, XJ-A257, A247, and A147, which boast a profile of just 43 millimeters and a weight of 2.3 kilograms for outstanding portability. The Standard Models, XJ-M256, M246, M156, and M146, come with various interfaces. All the new projectors are equipped with internal memory (approximately 2 GB) for storing presentation content, making it possible to give presentations without a PC or USB memory device. They reduce environmental impact by not using a mercury lamp and also help lower total cost of ownership thanks to their light source, which lasts about 20,000 hours, and their power-saving performance.

Edifice x Infiniti Red Bull Racing - 2014 Autumn/Winter collection

* F1-inspired 2014 Casio Edifice autumn/winter collection in collaboration with Infiniti Red Bull Racing

* Distinctive black-and-gold watch faces with choice of silver or black straps

* 2014 Casio Edifice x Infiniti Red Bull Racing autumn/winter collection available from RRP £325.00 to £450.00

* Assured exclusivity with strictly limited edition production runs

The new autumn/winter 2014 collection from Casio Edifice represents the latest advancements in watch technology and precision. Among these, the motorsport-inspired limited edition models designed in conjunction with the four-time Formula 1 champions at Infiniti Red Bull Racing lead the way in expressing these qualities. Each watch in the collection is designed with at least one unique feature, a specific highlight of which being the debut of Bluetooth functionality*.

The new range is headlined by the Edifice ERA-300RB - an Infiniti Red Bull Racing limited edition watch with twin-sensor thermometer and compass.

Six months ago, the five-strong spring/summer collection celebrated the arrival of this year's RB10 car and marked the first time that a Casio Edifice collection included three black watch designs.

The brand-new autumn/winter collection of limited edition timepieces has taken this distinctive new look and expanded it by using attractive black-and-gold colouring across the dials of all six models. Meanwhile, the bodies and straps are available in either silver or black and in a choice of all-metal or metal and plastic construction, depending on model.

Though the colour scheme was designed to blend into the fast-paced environment of a pit garage, full LED illumination ensures the dials are always easily readable, whatever the time of day. Each of these attractive analogue timepieces also feature a stopwatch accurate to 1/100th second, 100m water resistance and solid mineral glass covering.

The unique elements of each watch are listed below:

Edifice ERA-201RB: Infiniti Red Bull Racing limited edition watch with digital compass, bearing display and thermometer - RRP £325.00

Edifice EFR-540RB: Infiniti Red Bull Racing limited edition watch with shield chronograph and fine bold index (all-metal construction) – RRP £325.00

Edifice EFR-540RBP: As model above but with metal body and plastic strap – RRP £325.00

Edifice EQW-T620RB: Infiniti Red Bull Racing limited edition watch with radio-controlled time adjustment, solar battery and world time function – RRP £425.00

Edifice ERA-300RB: Infiniti Red Bull Racing limited edition 'premium hero' watch with twin-sensor thermometer and compass -  RRP £350.00

Edifice EQB-500RBK-1AER: Infiniti Red Bull Racing limited edition watch with Bluetooth functionality to seamlessly synchronise the exact time at home and abroad via smartphone link - RRP £450.00

The first five watches will launch in September 2014, followed by the highly anticipated EQB-500RBK Bluetooth model in October, and this will be be available from leading highstreet retailers including Casio London, Goldsmiths and Fraser Hart.

G-SHOCK launched the GPW-1000RAF GPS Aviator watch in collaboration with the ROYAL AIR FORCE at the RAF Museum, Hendon.
Inspired by the RAF’s durable and versatile Chinook helicopters, the GPW-1000RAF watch represents the crafts advanced technology and is tough enough to endure extreme terrain in any place and any conditions. It features a new Hybrid GPS/Radio Wave Ceptor function picking up time signals from atomic transmitters or from GPS satellites to deliver absolute accuracy – crucial to aviation.

In addition, the watch includes a Zulu time function, developed in conjunction with RAF pilots. Zulu time, an aviation and military term for UTC or Coordinated Universal Time, refers to time at the prime meridian, a more precise measurement of time developed from an increased accuracy at measuring the earth’s rotation. When the embossed red ‘Z’ is pressed the hands immediately set to Zulu time, returning to local time after a few seconds. This avoids any confusion pilots and crew may have when communicating across different time zones.

Developed as the ultimate pilots watch, details include scratch resistance sapphire glass, anti-reflection coating, LED lit high visibility luminescent coated numbers and a carbon hands that can withstand up to 12 Gs while in rotation.
This limited edition timepiece uses colours synonymous with the ROYAL AIR FORCE, including a utilitarian grey bezel and band inspired by the RAF combat aircraft while the distinctive RAF logo is embossed in white onto the band’s keeper.

The new G-SHOCK Premium GPW-1000RAF watch in collaboration with the RAF will launch in November and retail for £850 with a limited quantity of 500 in the UK.

Casio G-SHOCK has invested in a multi-channel marketing campaign for its premium watch brand in the UK. With an investment of over £500,000 the campaign focuses on stories about incredible people doing incredible things in line with G-SHOCK's mantra ‘never give up’. It will appear in extensive national outdoor advertising, print advertising and online through digital channels and social media.

The G-SHOCK team researched true stories of incredible people doing incredible things, and will be releasing a short film on each inspirational story. During autumn/winter 2014, three stories about people whose mantra has been ‘Never Give Up’ will be released as part of the campaign. The first of these is about climbers Tom Randall and Pete Whittaker. Their story ‘No Sleep Till Bakewell’ has just been released on the G-SHOCK website: http://www.g-shock.co.uk/nevergiveup/

Speaking as the campaign goes live, Casio UK Head of Marketing Tim Gould says: “The new G-SHOCK campaign is multi-channel, which is important for us to ensure that we reach as many people as possible.

“The online hub will be the focal point of the campaign where consumers can completely immerse themselves with the stories and the brand ethos, as well as the G-SHOCK watches.”

G-SHOCK’s ‘Never Give Up’ is a substantial integrated marketing campaign spanning a geo-targeted outdoor campaign to support retailers, a print campaign in the main lifestyle magazines and national newspapers, and a strong paid for and PR digital campaign. This will connect each of the G-SHOCK films narrating the stories to a potential audience of over 20 million people across the UK.

The stories will have a dedicated hub in the newly re-launched UK G-SHOCK website, which is now fully responsive with the ability for consumers to navigate it, regardless of what device they use. The new GA-1000 Aviator series G-SHOCK watches in blue, red and yellow promoted in the campaign are set to be Christmas best sellers. The Blue GA-1000-2BER is the hero of the campaign.

Combined certification with the Unicard POST (Point Of Sale Terminal) Kernel running on the Casio IT-9000 handheld device achieves ITSO compliant status and sets new standards for mobile ticketing and enhancement options across the entire UK passenger transport sector:-

4, November, 2014; Casio Electronics Co Ltd have announced today that as part of a joint initiative with Unicard, the IT-9000 handheld Mobile Computer with Integrated Printer has been awarded an ITSO Certificate of Compliance. The government backed ITSO standard for smart ticketing aims to ensure that public transport operators throughout the country can develop compatible smart ticketing systems. The Casio IT-9000 is a versatile and rugged mobile device that incorporates computing, communication and printing into one easy to use package. It is ideal for use as a handheld ticketing device within an ITSO compliant passenger transport smart ticketing system.

The certification of IT-9000 is particularly exciting for both Casio and our Solutions Partners as potential transport customers can now benefit from the implementation of our equipment, safe in the knowledge that compliance is in place.” Commented Richard Adlington, Divisional Manager – Mobile Computing, Casio.  “It also helps position Casio and Unicard as a strong force within the sector.” He concludes.

Unicard’s certified ITSO POST Kernel, running on the IT-9000, enables operators to manage IPEs (ITSO Product Entities) and conduct transactions. Unicard are able to provide an API (Application Programming Interface) to 3rd party integrators who can then build ITSO ticketing capability into their mobile applications.

The announcement is set to benefit all current ITSO Scheme owners, including local authorities already running, or thinking about implementing, ITSO schemes and transport operators who may require a handheld solution that can withstand the rigours of a mobile smart ticketing environment.

About ITSO:

The ITSO Specification is a UK Crown copyright, Government-backed IT standard which is being used across many of the country’s public transport smart ticketing schemes.

All UK public transport providers can use the same, freely available specification so that all public transport modes (i.e. rail, road, tram, ferry) can be configured to accept each other's smart cards or other media (such as smartphones) with payment for journeys. Secure back office IT systems to process these transactions are configured using the ITSO Security Management Service.

www.itso.org.uk

About Unicard:

Unicard offers a proven “off the shelf” ITSO terminal package, which allows terminal providers to speed up development processes and reduces certification costs. This is constituted by a software application to cover all ITSO related smart ticketing functions, interfacing with a range of contactless readers.

The RAF Benevolent Fund is delighted to announce a new partnership with Casio.  Through the release of their new G-SHOCK watch, Casio is donating £10,000 to the charity for its welfare programmes supporting RAF personnel and veterans.

Luke Wigman and Mike Goody were both young airmen in the RAF Regiment with long careers ahead of them, when injuries in Afghanistan changed their lives in the blink of an eye.  Their roads to recovery were long, but with the help of the RAF Benevolent Fund, the RAF’s leading welfare charity, both found their footing in new careers in the civilian world.

The watch, which bears the RAF logo, was inspired by the RAF’s durable and versatile Chinook helicopters and developed as the ultimate pilot’s watch.  Designed in conjunction with RAF pilots, its special features include a hybrid system of Atomic Time Keeping and GPS for accuracy and carbon hands that can withstand up to 12Gs while in rotation.  Learn more about the watch’s inspiration, the RAF Chinook, at www.g-shock.co.uk/raf .

Philippa Gullen, RAF Benevolent Fund Head of Corporate Fundraising, said:  “We are absolutely thrilled with Casio’s support of the RAF Benevolent Fund.  Last year the charity spent over £18 million supporting RAF personnel and veterans which would not be possible without  the help of supporters, like Casio. Through their generous donations we are able to help young guys like Mike Goody and Luke Wigman with life after injury.”

Tim Gould, Head of Marketing at Casio UK said: "We are delighted to support the Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund in the great work they do with RAF personnel and veterans."

In the past year, the RAF Benevolent Fund, as the RAF’s leading welfare charity, helped over 60,000 members of the RAF family with a range of services, from child-care centres and youth workers on each Station, to relationship counselling, and assistance with financial, housing, and medical needs.

Casio Backs F1 Stars Of The Future

As the official timing partner of the Infiniti Red Bull Racing team, watchmaker Casio is no stranger to the heady world of F1 talent. Recently however, the Japanese brand has been investing in the future stars of tomorrow’s F1 paddock, by sponsoring a talented group of students in their bid to take on the world in a global engineering challenge.

Running under the team nomenclature of ‘Colossus F1’, the six students, from the Robert Mays School in Hampshire, have worked together to design, manufacture and test a scale gas-powered F1 car, which will compete against similar machines at the World final to be held in Abu Dhabi in November. Engineering isn’t the only factor here, interestingly, as pupils also had to prepare a concise and realistic business plan, as well as devising a suitable budget and raising sponsorship to allow them to take part in the competition. Now that is preparation for a career at the sharp end of motorsport!

Getting through to the final has been no mean feat for the team involved. More than 40 countries have been competing worldwide, with over 20 million students taking part in their bid to be in the final. Robert Mays has considerable form here though, placing well in the F1 for School competition in previous years. This year’s team has the worthy accolade of being accredited as English Champions, which bodes well for the challenge ahead.

The competition itself is a non-profit organisation which aims to educate and inform children whilst shifting perceptions of science, engineering, technology and maths through an innovative and involving educational experience. With the glamour, prestige and aspirational standards of F1 as its central theme, it captivates students in a way that truly engages them, teaching them life-long career-enhancing skills whilst also developing teamwork and communication.

The team’s best result to date has been an impressive podium finish with a project called ‘Rush’ in 2012 netting them a global 3rd place, but this time, under the watchful eye of Head of Technology, Philip Cain, the team are definitely eying up an outright victory.

Commenting on the sponsorship of these up-and-coming engineers, Casio UK Head of Marketing, Tim Gould said, “It’s a real privilege to be involved at the ground level with such talented and inspiring young engineers. The students at Robert Mays clearly have a passion for what they do, and their latest design looks fantastic and works brilliantly. F1 is an important proving ground for many Casio products as it demands the very highest levels of engineering and timing precision. The skills required when designing solutions for this most demanding of sports will stand the team in great stead, whatever they chose to do next.”

Casio Computer Co, Ltd. is launching a next generation projector model for 2015 at a price point that will make its revolutionary Laser & LED Hybrid light source technology accessible for projects of any investment scale. Presented in a simple yet elegant chassis, the Core will begin shipping in May 2015 and is ideal for replacing existing projectors installed in classrooms and meeting spaces, offering outstanding total cost of ownership.

Being lamp-free, the Core brings the unique benefits associated with the Laser & LED Hybrid light source technology to extended markets. The entire Casio range is mercury free, not only ensuring that the teaching environment is safe, but also replacing one of the most unreliable light sources on the planet (UHP mercury lamps), with two of the most stable (Laser and LED).

With no lamps or filters to change, Casio has significantly reduced the power consumption and maintenance of its projectors, resulting in industry-leading total cost of ownership. The projector can turn on and off in under eight seconds without a warming up or cooling down period, saving valuable time.

Boasting a brightness of 2,700lm and an incredible 20,000 hour lifespan, the Core ensures that all presentations are bright and vivid for longer with minimum drop off in brightness, negating the need to draw the curtains or pull the blinds.

The Core has been designed with the user in mind, featuring a very simple user interface and connection points that fit most universal ceiling mounts.

Casio is the pioneer of Laser & LED solid state projection with a completely lamp-free range since 2010. Five years on, Casio now holds an incredible 87.8% market share.

Toshiharu Okimuro, Head Of Global Sales, Casio Projection said:

“This new addition to our portfolio will ensure that everyone can benefit from high-quality, sustainable projection. We are very excited about this important new product. Once you see it, you will understand why we are so excited.”

“Having no consumables to monitor or replace means that end users can fix their costs for projection for five years without hidden extras. With no replacement parts needed, the level of maintenance is significantly reduced, offering a viable and sustainable option for businesses and educational establishments looking for long-term technology solutions. In addition, there is no downtime for changing lamps, providing a much more reliable solution for end users.”

Casio Releases iPad App That Recreates Its Popular CZ Series of Classic Synthesizers

TOKYO, January 22, 2015 — Casio Computer Co., Ltd., announced today the release of the CZ App for iPad, a virtual synthesizer app based on Casio’s best-selling CZ series of synthesizers, including the CZ-101 model released in 1984. Designed especially for the iPad, the app is now available at the Apple App Store.

Along with its electronic musical instruments, Casio has been developing musical apps with the goal of providing the joy of playing music to more and more people. To date, Casio has released several apps that have become widely popular: Chordana Viewer and Chordana Tap, which automatically detect the chord progressions of songs; as well as Musical Practice Tool, a useful app for practicing a musical instrument or singing.

Now Casio has released the CZ App for iPad, an iPad app that recreates its best-selling CZ series of classic synthesizers and includes several all-new functions. CZ App for iPad allows up to four separate parts to be played using the original Phase Distortion[AL1] *2 sound source by Casio, and features 36 types of waveforms for producing a wide range of sounds.

Reproduces the sounds of the CZ series

Users can play with a wide range of sounds based on eight basic waveforms and 28 combinations of those basic waveforms—for a total of 36 types of waveforms. The CZ App for iPad also features two digitally controlled oscillators (DCO)[AL2] , two digitally controlled waveform (DCW) envelopes, and two digitally controlled amplitude (DCA) envelopes. In each of these six blocks of parameters, users can make subtle changes to the sounds by setting temporal variations to pitch, timbre, and volume. Furthermore, users can visually check the modifications to pitch, timbre, and volume using the iPad screen while the sounds are being generated.

Users can play along with their favorite songs

Simultaneous playback of audio files stored in the iPad is possible, so users can have fun playing along with their favorite songs using the sounds produced by the CZ App for iPad.

Multi-Play mode allows two players to perform with a single iPad

Up to four virtual keyboards can be displayed on the iPad’s screen, each assigned to one of the four parts generated by the Phase Distortion sound source. Even a face-to-face keyboard layout is available, allowing two users to perform together with just one iPad.

Connectivity with external MIDI-compatible musical instruments and other apps

Music produced on the CZ App for iPad can be played using all kinds of MIDI-compatible musical instruments,*3 such as Casio’s electronic keyboards, digital pianos, and synthesizers. CZ App for iPad is also compatible with Inter-App Audio[AL3]  and Audiobus, so it can connect to other apps compatible with Inter-App Audio and send audio data to Audiobus-compatible apps.

*1 Please check the price at the App Store.
*2: Phase Distortion (PD) works by distorting a sine wave when it is read so that various different waveforms are produced.
*3: Commercially available MIDI interface or adapter is necessary. Please see the Main Specifications for details.
